A call, a loss, an assurance of a forever love
Full of rich harmonies, “Beyond the Noble Way” is an audience-friendly work for brass quintet. It is a story of married romance which begins with a trumpet call for two to become one. The romantic melodies weave between two lovers. A fragment of the hymn adopted by the Navy, Eternal Father, suggests assurance that, through it all, their Father is with them beyond the noble way. This original work is dedicated to the late Patricia Zadrozny, the wife of a dear friend and colleague. The horn represents Pat and the trombone is her husband, Ed. The title came from her married name. Patricia means “noble.” Zadrozny is a Polish name that means “beyond the way.”
The 2020 world premiere by the Faculty Brass Quintet at the University of Akron was postponed due to COVID.
Suitable for high school, college, regional, or professional brass quintet
